As a Sports Photographer in Manchester I was on hand to capture a different angle for Soccer Aid 2021.

After a pretty impressive 90 minutes, Soccer Aid 2021 ended with the Rest of the World XI taking the trophy for the third year in a row after beating England 3-0.

As ever, the event was raising money for UNICEF to help support disadvantaged kids in more than 190 countries. Tonight’s (September 4) charity game took place at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.

Before the game had kicked off, England had two players drop out – TV and radio presenter Roman Kemp announced he couldn’t play due to a positive COVID test, and Top Gear presenter and new A Question of Sport host Paddy McGuinness picked up an injury.

All the goals came in the second half, when five minutes in former Love Island star Kem Cetinay hit the back of the net, with keeper The Masked Singers Joel Dommett looking a little bemused that it had gone in past him.

Kem then got another at 73 minutes, and although he was pushing for a hat-trick, it just wasn’t meant to be.

But the third goal came from a surprising player – after years of missing the net every time he got the ball near a goal, Lee Mack, who switched from England to the Rest of the World XI – finally scored at Soccer Aid, hitting the back of the net at 89 minutes.

Robbie Williams came on at the end to reveal the total that the 10th ever Soccer Aid had raised was a very impressive £13,014,769.

Alongside some legends, celebrities playing for England included Olly Murs, runner Sir Mo Farah, popstar James Arthur, YouTuber Chunkz, TOWIE‘s Mark Wright, rapper Aitch, Olympic Gymnast Max Whitlock, and singer James Bay.

The Rest of the World team included Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt, popstars Tom Grennan, Dermot Kennedy, Chelcee Grimes, presenter Ore Oduba, Line of Duty’s Martin Compston, singer Yungblud and rapper Big Zuu.
